I found one incredibly minute change though.

Well that was a good thought, but the color of that line does not change with the drive mode anymore.

Hoping there is a way to code this into the M Layout.

  • M Layout does not currently offer display of which driving mode you’re in (Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, etc).
  • The issue is, the car is left with M-View settings, but no way to display them. change the setting Car: Settings: Display: Head-Up: Select View back to “Standard” then re-apply old backup. Simply re-apply changes here (via another backup). NOTE: If you try these coding options, but later decide to back out of changes via rolling back to previous Backup you may lose options in your Head-Up display. To get the sport menu on/off later, just change the Instrument Cluster Layout to “M” and the HUD will change with it. They don’t actually show any visual changes - unless you change the layout. You can also leave the “expert coding” bits in place under the Instrument Cluster module. You can leave changes to the Head Unit, they will present an “M View” option under the Head-up Display menu, but little else. Changes to the DKOMBI4 module will enable the M-HUD. The second part is for the Instrument Cluster, DKOMBI4, module. This will enable the M-HUD options under the Car Settings: Display: HUD. First part modifies code in the Head Unit, HU_MGU, module. Note 2: I started with instructions and Forest Gumped my way through various changes to get desired result. Instructions below do NOT enable other M Sport menus.

So you end up with a series of “go no where, do nothing” menus. This might sound exciting, but most didn’t actually “do” anything. Started with instructions from Issue with Jimmy’s instructions was that it enabled all sorts of M-Sport menus. There are other treads for other coding subjects. Choosing it will reset everything in the car to the default position.Note: This thread is only for M-Hud and Display specific coding for iDrive 7. As a nice extra feature, you can also use a Guest profile for a person that doesn’t usually drive the car. Then tick the box next to the “Display user list at startup” option. To do that, you need to go to Settings -> Profiles, and while the Profiles submenu is highlighted, just press the Options button next to the iDrive controller. Furthermore, if this is a situation that happens daily, you can set up the system to prompt for the right person every day.

Then, all you have to do is use your own key fob when driving the car and its software will adjust everything as you prefer it, leaving you only to enjoy the driving experience.Īll of this can be done rather easily by making sure each driver always uses a different key fob and by setting up two profiles inside the iDrive menu, in the Settings -> Profiles sub-menu.Īnd then again, if both drivers are in the car at the same time, you can make sure the right profile is used by manually entering the Profiles section of the iDrive menu and choosing the right one.

If the car has two drivers, each of them can adjust their seats, mirrors and other settings according to their needs and memorize this as a profile on board. That’s because you can actually use the two key fobs you get when buying a new BMW to set up different profiles for them. Out of the bunch, we found the one about personal profiles the most intriguing. You should also reflect on the days when memory seats were scoffed at because today we’re showing you how they can save you a lot of headaches.īMW recently published a series of videos on its YouTube channel explaining some of the overlooked features of new cars and how they can make your life easier. Think back to those days when you looked at power seats and considered them rather useless. Well, there may be a solution at hand that you probably didn’t even know about. I don’t even want to imagine what people sharing the same car must go through, such as couples for example. At least that’s what I feel like every time I go to a car wash, the people handling my car seeming to be particularly keen on moving my seat back and forward to clean something.
